I think I can speak for Lucy - we had a great time this weekend! It was good to get a long list of comments but more important, we spent a weekend of laughter with some of you. Yes, we could hear you giggling. What better way to spend your weekend than laughing - well, okay next to folding your socks and underwear.
This is not necessarily a fairthewell (is that one word or not? no matter).
So during the whole shebang - Edgewood Estates kept on rolling. The summer is (pretty much) here; which means the "James Gang" biker club will fill the street with Harleys’ and rock out with Rick James and BBQ on Sunday's, drug busts will happen in front of our house, the nice girls with really short shorts and 4-inch heals will get dropped off and picked up around the corner, the drunk guy on our lawn already happened but it is still early - he may not be the last. And the many churches around us will raise money by selling BBQ on the sidewalks. YUM. Then there is all the mundane stuff that happens in between.
Sitting on the porch with friends Saturday evening and the horrific sound of squealing tires and metal on metal brought the conversations to a halt. Once the cops and lights and commotion started, the neighborhood poured out of their houses....Marc and I were not far behind. A group of about 50 gathered around her car.

The woman in the shiny new Jaguar was surely coming off the highway, on her way home to the East Lake Country Club ‘hood, and passing through Edgewood Estates when the crash happened

When the camera came out the kids got excited. Take my picture! Take my picture! I have learned in Edgewood not to take pictures without permission – many people move and run when the camera comes out. Some admittedly are violating parole or are wanted on a warrant (or several). I don’t assume any innocence in the kids around our ‘hood so I tell them the picture will end up on the internet. Marc (at You Know The Facts) even squeezed in to get (his picture) on the internet!

Whew! What a different story. They gathered, assumed places and posed within seconds -almost like they planned for the day. At this point I realized my preconceived notion for a lack of innocence was being stupid- so they taunt our dogs, throw rocks at every street sign and talk a lot of shit when they walk the streets – just a different upbringing. Then again, adults probably looked at me and my friends as a bunch of menacing kids….actually that was probably an accurate assessment of us.
And Sunday, they all came by my house and asked if they were on the internet yet – I gave them the URL to this blog. So if you guys and girls are out there reading this……you are almost famous!!!
Thanks for the picture and be nice to my dogs!
